Description How To Break Through Before You Break Down: Negotiating the 3
P's--Perfectionism, Procrastination and Paralysis

Workshop
Center for Professional Development

The desire to change is very different from actually making a
change. Many people get "stuck" when they most want to make a
change, whether it's personal, work-related, or involves the
creative process. When we don't succeed in making a change, the
costs can be great: depression, despair, self-hatred, boredom.
This practical and inspirational introductory workshop will
examine the fundamental ingredients of the process of change and
the nature of courage. Participants can expect a lively,
respectful, and insightful day with time for contemplation as
well as interaction. Feel free to bring personal as well as
work-related questions and problems. Topics include:

- The search for meaning: how not to waste your time picking all
the low-hanging fruit

- Model of change: pain points and analgesics

- Indicators that change is needed: voices in the night and
nightmares in our closet

- Limiting processes: the inner languages of not changing

- Effective strategies for change

- Risk-taking: what holds us back, what opens doors

- Real and imagined consequences of change

- Difficulties of both success and failure and strategies to
survive both.
