Description FountainBlue's High Tech Entrepreneurs' Forum is a networking,
education and support group for high-tech entrepreneurs in the
Silicon Valley. This monthly lunch meeting is designed to share
successes and challenges in a safe environment, focused on
helping fellow members run and grow their entrepreneurial
ventures. Each month, we focus on a different theme of interest
to entrepreneurs and feature a guest facilitator with deep
experience helping entrepreneurs.

The SV High Tech Entrepreneurs' Forum is open to high tech
entrepreneurs & their teams (such as staff members, advisers,
board members or investors) with a wide range of
entrepreneurial experience, at various stages of growing or
supporting a new or existing entrepreneurial venture. Note that
this event is for entrepreneurs only, no service providers
please. For more information about the High Tech Entrepreneurs'
Forum, visit

Theme and Guest Facilitators: High Tech Investment Trends
We found out from the November session on Alternative Funding
that entrepreneurs need to go beyond the concept phase and into
the prototype phase before they can investigate seed and angel
and other types of funding.

For FountainBlue's January 8 High Tech Entrepreneurs' Forum, we
will assemble a panel of angel investors who will share their
advice on how to get funding for early stage companies and
their perspectives on the fundable technology trends for the
year. They will also be there to address questions you may have
about the funding challenges for your organization.

Angel investor Steve Bennet from Sand Hill Angels, as well as
Bodega Partners and Outlook Ventures
Angel investor and corporate executive Marc Burch will share
opportunities for funding for high tech disaster recovery, life
science and other high tech companies
Angel investor Clifford Tong from Keiretsu Forum as well as
Diverse Strategies
Recovering VC, current angel investor and entrepreneur Ben Wan
will share his perspectives on high-tech investment trends
Angel investor Ron Weissman, member of the Band Of Angels and
partner at Apax Partners

It is our hope that this session will help entrepreneurs to
better understand the trends in the year, to better position
their organizations for outside funding, and to make strategic
connections with potential investors.
Cost Free or $10 for other entrepreneurs, $20 at the door

Description One of the biggest challenges for any businesses is "the launch".
Whether it is the initial company launch or the launch of a
second-generation product the process is similar and the
results are equally important. Start-ups and small business have
limited resources, both people and capital, and have only one
chance to get it right. Hear Laura Lowell discuss how to plan
and execute an effective launch. Whether you are a small startup
or part of a more established company, a launch is one of your
more important marketing investments. But that doesn't mean you
have to spend a fortune, and it doesn't have to take forever.
Topics covered will include developing a practical launch
strategy, creating compelling customer-relevant messages,
optimizing your marketing mix, and best practices from a variety
of industries.

Description Start-Ups/VCs SIG "Crafting the Financial Roadmap of Your
Startup"

As you launch your startup, you must steer it on the financial
path to success. To do so, you need to develop an effective
financial roadmap and thoroughly understand how it will unfold
over the next 5 years. This roadmap should provide you with a
clear vision of your objectives and milestones to a) help you
decide whether your project is financially feasible, b) set a
common direction for your management team, and c) enable
investors and lenders to assess the desirability of funding your
venture.

Presented by Anthony Nassar of Venture Momentum, Inc., this
technical workshop is designed for startup entrepreneurs who are
in the process of developing their business plan and seeking
angel and/or VC funding. In this workshop, we will use a case
study to illustrate how to build a 5 year financial plan step-by-
step. You will learn:

-a systematic methodology for developing a robust financial plan
-how to build a credible revenue model
-rules for building a flexible expense model
-techniques for preserving scalability and data integrity as you
make subsequent updates to the plan
-ways to validate your model using publicly available data
-how to project the ownership of the founders, employees, and
investors
-how to derive valuation data from the financial plan
-how to debug your financial planning spreadsheet.

You will also receive a printout of the financial model.
