Description Can 450 Year Old Leadership Lessons Really Enlighten Business
and Personal Leadership in the 21st Century?

History - A Relevant Learning Tool To Create Rules For How We
Live, Work, Worship And Play Today

Danville, CA - (January 09, 2007) - Catholics@Work, a
fellowship of individuals who explore how to actively live
ones beliefs in the workplace, (www.catholicsatwork.org),
today announced its February 2007 breakfast meeting will
feature Mr. Chris Lowney. Lowney will discuss how
understanding history is more relevant today than ever before.
The back drop of emerging markets, the development of new media
and technology, and a growing doubt that traditional values are
no longer relevant, is similar to the backdrop that existed 450
years ago when one of the greatest global companies was being
launched - the Jesuits. Lowney, a former Jesuit, was named a
Managing Director of J.P. Morgan & Co. while still in his
thirties and held senior positions in New York, Tokyo,
Singapore and London. He served on Morgan's Asia-Pacific,
European and Investment Banking Management Committees,
accumulating a wealth of multinational experience at a company
regularly ranked one of "America's Most Admired Companies" by
Fortune magazine.

The Catholics@Work breakfast event will be held at Crow Canyon
Country Club, 711 Silver Lake Drive, Danville, CA 94526 on
Tuesday, February 13, 2006. A full buffet breakfast is served
starting at 7:00am (Mass is offered at 6:30am at the same
location.) Cost is $25 for members and $32 for non-members.
To register visit http://www.catholicsatwork.org/EventDesc.aspx.

In his book, Heroic Leadership, Lowney talks about four
qualities he sees as essential to Jesuit leadership style; self-
awareness, ingenuity, love and heroism. The Jesuits are a 450-
year-old organization that grappled successfully with
challenges similar to those faced by companies today. Lowney
will share his perspective on how the application of these four
principles helps with the application of Christian values in
today's workplace. While these principles clearly set the
foundation for successful corporate leadership, when applied to
individuals, these principles define personal leadership.

"The very last thing the Jesuits would have considered
themselves to be was leadership pundits," said Chris
Lowney, "Instead of talking about leadership, they lived it."

"It is uncanny how the lessons from 450 years ago are
completely relevant in today's workplace," said Tom Platner,
president of Catholics@Work. "In addition to reading Chris'
book, an investment of time that will surely deliver a rich,
personal return, hearing Chris at the Catholics@Work event and
being able to interact with him will provide an even greater
return."

Prior to joining J.P. Morgan, Lowney was a Jesuit seminarian
for seven years. During that time, he taught and studied at
Jesuit institutions in the U.S. and Puerto Rico. He is a summa
cum laude graduate of Fordham University, where he also
received his M.A. and was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. He is
holder of honorary Doctoral degrees from Marymount Manhattan
University and from the University of Great Falls. Lowney
serves on the Board of Directors of Nativity Middle School and
on the Board of Regents of St. Peter's College.
Cost $25.00 for members; $32.00 for non-members

Description

elf design isn't just another graphic design company. In fact, I don't even call myself a graphic designer.

I'm a brand designer. A brand is a much bigger and more important piece of a business's overall strategy.

I'm a one-person business, specializing in creating big- business brand identities for other small businesses. One- person businesses like consultants, coaches and solopreneurs are actually my specialty. And, they face a unique set of challenges when creating their business brands, like the question of how much of their personality to include in their brand, how to keep up with their business and make sure that they market at the same time, and how to get the most possible value out of their branding and marketing investment.

I focus on helping those one-person businesses create brands that stand out. I have a 5-step process for doing so:

Define Your Unique Position to the World Design Your Logo and Brand Identity Develop Your Website and Marketing Communications Collateral Distinguish Your Offerings from the Crowd Direct the Use of Your New Brand So That it Can Reach Its Fullest Potential These stand-out brands have the added benefit of being "Not Just Pretty", (which is also the name of my blog) but effective in creating bottom-line results for their businesses. The average small business owner wears a lot of "hats" in their business, and winds up doing a lot of jobs alone.

But, your brand can do or at least lend a hand in a lot of those jobs for you! Creating a Brand Identity for your business is one of the easiest ways to build big- business credibility for a small business. A professional brand identity communicates your company's purpose and promises, increases your memorability and drives sales.
